Product name: Tokio table lamp by Shigeaki Asahara for Stilnovo in black and red, 1980s
Tokio table lamp designed by Shigeaki Asahara for Italian lighting manufacturer Stilnovo in 1980.
The model has a shade in the shape of an almost half sphere that is supported by four adjustable arms, allowing the lamp to be moved forwards and backwards. The dimmer is incorporated in the base of the lamp.
The maximum height is 64 cm/ 26 inch.
This Tokio table lamp is in very good vintage condition. It is halogen, with an incorporated transformer in the base, which converts 220 volts to 12 volts. In countries with a lower voltage such as the US, an adapter or converter is required. Alternatively, the transformer must be replaced.
Giuliana Gramigna described the lamp in her ‘Repertoire del Design Italiano 1950-2000’ on Page 293 (1980).
