Tokio table lamp by Shigeaki Asahara for Stilnovo in red and black, 1980s

Tokio is a modern table lamp by the Japanese designer Shigeaki Asahara for Italian lighting manufacturer Stilnovo, designed in 1980.

The height of this halogen table lamp is adjustable with a maximum height of 64 cm. Tokio features a mailbox-like shade supported by four adjustable arms, which allow to move the lamp in each direction. The dimmer, a sliding switch, is incorporated in the base of the lamp.

The lamp is in mint condition (new old stock).

The Tokio table lamp is described in ‘Repertoire del Design Italiano 1950-2000’ by Giuliana Gramigna on Page 293 (1980).
