Tau pendant by Sergio Mazza for Artemide, 1960s

Tau pendant designed by Sergio Mazza for Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide in the 1960s.

According to an Artemide catalogue from 1969: “Cable suspended lamp in nickeled matt brass with aluminium reflector and pressed crystal bowl.”

The condition of the piece is good, with loss of nickel on the brass ring. The length of the steel wire can be adjusted. The lamp comes with the original ceiling cap.

Tau is part of a range of lamps named after the Greek alphabet. Other lamps from this series are amongst others ‘Delta’, ‘Gamma’, ‘Kappa’, ‘Omega’, ‘Pi’ and ‘Sigma’.
