Product name: Pirellina glass table Lamp by Gio Ponti for Fontana Arte, 1960s
Pirellina table lamp designed in 1967 by Italian architect designer Gio Ponti and produced by Fontana Arte.
The lamp consists of a pair of curved pressed glass sheets held in position by two metal elements at the base and at the top. The power cable, plug and switch are black. This piece was produced in the 1990s and is in excellent condition.
The lamp was shaped after the Pirelli tower in Milan, which was as well designed by Gio Ponti and completed almost 10 years earlier (in 1958). This building was among the first skyscrapers to abandon the customary block form and was characterized by the tapered sides.
