Product name: Bibip floor lamp by Achille Castiglioni for Flos, 1970s
Bibip floor lamp designed in 1977 by Achille Castiglioni and manufactured by lighting company Flos.
Bibip is an adjustable light, that can be used both as an uplighter and as a downlighter. The black enamelled slender stem ends in a ceramic element and a reflector in die-cast aluminum alloy which support a lamp holder for a halogen light source (E14, max 250 watts). The reflector is manoeuverable via a ring that remains cool even when the lamp is switched on.
The lamp is stabilised by a semi-spherical ceramic base that is filled with sand.
Giuliana Gramigna mentions Bibip in her standard work on Italian design Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000 on page 244 (1976).
