Product name: Nickel Fior di Loto pendant by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Flos, 1960s
Nickel Fior di Loto pendant designed by Tobia and Afra Scarpa for Italian Lighting manufacturer Flos in 1963.
In an original Flos catalogue we found this description: “Pendant lamp, giving filtered light, in polished or nickel-plated brass, or in enameled metal.”
This is the nickel version which consists of two parts that are joined together by chromed fittings that are an integral part of the design to provide an enclosure for the bulb. The lamp provides primarily indirect light through punched perforations on both sides of its body.
Fior di Loto is described in the Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000 by Giuliana Gramigna on Page 105 (1963).
